Krysten Ritter Cast as Marvel's Jessica Jones (UPDATE: Mike Colter Confirmed as Luke Cage)
Update: Marvel has confirmed that Mike Colter (of The Following and Halo: Nightfall) will indeed be the titular Luke Cage for the Netflix show. Now that casting is complete for the three main shows: Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones Marvel has an interesting task at hand to bring these characters together utilizing Netflix as their platform.
Krysten Ritter, of Breaking Bad and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 fame, has been cast as Marvel's Jessica Jones, according to Deadline. Marvel has yet to officially confirm anything, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems likely as Marvel's Netflix initiative is becoming more and more clear. The article also hints at Mike Colter being the likely actor for Luke Cage as well.
The 13 episode series is expected to debut on Netflix sometime after the Daredevil show and lead into the Defenders event. Melissa Rosenberg is the writer an executive producer behind the Jessica Jones show.
Jessica Jones was a former super-heroine who becomes a private investigator and eventually marries the Avenger, Luke Cage (also receiving his own Netflix show to debut after Jessica Jones). She debuted in the Alias comic book, written by Brian Michael Bendis. Be on the lookout for a definitive release date to be revealed soon.
