Grumpy Cat Movie Trailer Released: Why?

Posted in The Screening Room by - November 03, 2014

In a move that could only be classified as grasping at straws in an attempt to stay relevant, Lifetime Network has released the trailer for Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever featuring Aubrey Plaza. It shouldn’t exist, god only knows why it does exist. The only reason I could find for this movie existing is to capitalize on the Internet meme that was the flavor of the week almost a year ago. Along with that, just from the trailer it seems like Aubrey Plaza is phoning it in big time and half of the time the cat is shown in the trailer there seems to be an overly excited person hoisting it in front of a green screen. It really just shows how slowly Hollywood and the mass media in general jump on Internet ideas. For the two readers who are going to sit down and watch this Christmas classic, good on you I guess. Side note, this movie may end up on our Movies So Bad They’re Still Bad list for next year from just how bad it looks from the trailer alone.

Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever will premiere on November 29th 2014 on Lifetime, so get your DVRs ready.
