Oh Boy: Mark Wahlberg Back for ‘Transformers 5’

Posted in The Screening Room by - December 19, 2014

In a move that should surprise no one Mark Wahlberg is returning as the lead for the currently untitled Transformers 5. The previous film Transformers: Age of Extinction was a financial success however as with the other films in the series it was universally panned by critics.

Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more… you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon.

I detest Michael Bay. There are few directors that make me shake my head in sadness more than Michael Bay. He has taken franchises that are memorable and nostalgic only to change them in such drastic ways that it alienates the original fans. The best examples of that would be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers but that’s not to say that his non-franchise films are good either. Films such as Armageddon and Pain & Gain are good examples of this fact; neither one are remotely good. Then again when you make movies for teenage boys I guess you don’t have to worry about quality do you?

I make movies for teenage boys. Oh, dear, what a crime.

— Michael Bay

I guess when you realize you have no talent it doesn’t really matter. I guess it also doesn’t matter the quality of the movie you make when you’re laughing all the way to the bank. Kudos to you Michael Bay, you’re the Kim Khardashian of the movie world.
