Batman to Appear in 'Suicide Squad'?
Warner Bros' Suicide Squad was one of the more ambitious and seemingly out of left field comic book adaptations revealed as it takes a relatively unknown book and infuses many big name actors in the roles. The biggest news regarding the film was about Tom Hardy departing from his role. However, Forbes is running a rumor that the Dark Knight may be appearing in Suicide Squad, perhaps in a more significant role than even rumored previously:
From what I can gather, it appears that Batman would appear, likely in a minor capacity, as a way of setting off a chain of events to lead Jared Leto's Joker to become the antagonist of the inevitable Batman solo film.
Clearly, this isn't set in stone as we still don't even have a replacement for Tom Hardy, and rewrites happen all the time. From Warner Bros' perspective it does make sense to have Batman be a part of the film to drive revenue as the public will be more receptive to a familiar face in such a new franchise. We already have had the Joker as a villain in two Batman films, so let's hope if he is the villain for the solo film that they try something new with the character. The solo outing for Batman isn't likely to come until 2019.
You can see the new Batman in 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
