First 'Fantastic Four' Trailer Released
Today marks the first time we get any sort of marketing push for Fox's Fantastic Four reboot. There has been an incredible lack of information other than a few sketches over the last few months on what is expected to be on of the bigger releases in 2015.
Here's the trailer via YouTube:
Admittedly, while knowing very little of the actual plot, this trailer actually got me excited for the release. It displays an almost bleak and realistic tone, similar to a recent release, Interstellar. You see all of our main heroes, played by Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, with a voiceover by The Wire alum, Reg E. Cathey, in their pre transformed states. We see a brief shot of the team assembled at the end of the trailer that had some impressive scope. Ultimately, the success of this film relies on the chemistry between its four leads and how believable they are as a familial unit.
One last thing, as pointed out on Reddit , there is a viral easter egg embedded in the trailer. At 0:45, the IP address 220.127.116.11 can be seen onscreen. If you go to that address from your browser, you're taken to a page regarding Latveria, the fictional eastern European nation that Dr. Doom lords over. I think it's safe to assume that will play into the film's plot somehow.
A brief summary of the film is found below:
What do you guys think? It looks far better than what I imagined.
Josh Trank's Fantastic Four will be released in theaters August 7, 2015.
