John Travolta has been reported by TV Line as the newest cast member for Ryan Murphy's new anthology series, American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson. Travolta's career isn't what it once was, but the Pulp Fiction and Grease star is one of the biggest film stars of the last several decades. Travolta will be playing Robert Shapiro, one of the defense lawyers for O.J. Simpson.

American Crime Story will follow the famous O.J. Simpson case, with Cuba Gooding Jr. portraying the disgraced ex NFL player. This marks Travolta's first foray back into television as a regular since 1979 in Welcome Back, Kotter. The show is expected to run 10 episodes, and like Ryan Murphy's other big hit, American Horror Story, will follow a completely different story if there is a second season. As a big fan of American Horror Story (this season notwithstanding), I'm pretty excited for American Crime Story, and the Travolta casting just made it more intriguing.
