Bad Ass: Ennio Morricone Will Score Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

Bad Ass: Ennio Morricone Will Score Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

The same man who elevated the endless staring matches of the Sergio Leone masterpieces into operatic battles of will is going to be composing the original score for Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. This unexpected charging news came via the official twitter account for the film earlier today. Not only does this mark a departure from the typical Tarantino blend of pop-heavy soundtracks shoved into genre films that was on full display in his last film, Django Unchained, it also marks the ultimate realization of a dream for the pulp mastermind. Tarantino reportedly wanted Morricone to score his revisionist masterpiece Inglorious Basterds but the composer turned him down.

It's hard to imagine a better film than a true to form western for Morricone to agree to. Once in a while, there are occurrences that give me pause, and force consideration of the notion of destiny, providence, God stuff, synchronicity, whatever. This is certainly one of those. Hit play on the track below, look up a the sky, imagine some jaw dropping Tarantino power struggles, and contemplate whatever force turns this strange little hunk of dirt we all live on.
