Chris Pine Confirmed for 'Wonder Woman'

Chris Pine Confirmed for 'Wonder Woman'

Wonder Woman finally has landed its male lead, opposite Gal Gadot's titular character. The Wrap reports that Chris Pine has inked a deal to play Steve Trevor in the 2017 DC release. Patty Jenkins is replacing the departed Michelle MacLaren for directing duties on the film.

In the comics, Steve Trevor is a WWII officer who crashes on the Amazonian homeland and is taken in by Wonder Woman and she eventually follows him back to his home as they fall in love. Scott Eastwood was rumored for the Steve Trevor part, but he ultimately opted to take a role in the upcoming Suicide Squad film.

Chris Pine's notoriety makes it seem that Steve Trevor will be an integral part of the film, which will be Wonder Woman's second big screen feature after next summer's Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. He also runs A.R.G.U.S. in the current comics, which is a SHIELD analogue, so he may have a recurring role throughout the DC films.

Wonder Woman is scheduled for release on June 23, 2017.
