Damon is back as Bourne; Greengrass to return as well

It had been rumored for some time and now its a reality: Matt Damon is returning as Jason Bourne in 2016. The news was leaked unceremoniously by Ben Affleck earlier but Damon confirmed it yesterday.

Yes, next year [we’ll shoot it]. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.

Personally, I find the idea of Paul Greengrass returning much more exciting than Damon returning. Greengrass has worked on some interesting projects since leaving the Bourne franchise after The Bourne Ultimatum, and I’m interested to see if his recent work shapes the new Bourne film. I’m also curious as to whether Jeremy Renner will be featured at all in the film since he was last seen taking up the lead mantle in The Bourne Legacy. We will report on any further news it is comes out.
